Pallavalli Food Bank
This woman is one of our Food Bank recipients in a small slum village called Pallavalli in South India. She lives alone in a hut and sleeps on the floor with a burlap bag as her pillow. Recently, our co-workers noted that many elderly widows and widowers in Pallavalli didn’t have the resources to eat every day. We learned that some of them were only able to afford a meal every third day or so.
So the Pallavalli Food Bank was born.
Each day, our co-workers cook 25 meals and donate them to the poorest people in the village who have no means of support. The Indian government does give out a pension (if the widow or widower can find somebody to help them apply for it) but it’s only the equivalent of about $9 usd – it’s just not enough to support them.
So, many of them go hungry every single day!
By providing them with one healthy meal a day, this food bank will allow them to receive many of the nutrients that they were not able to get before.
For a grand total of $100 a month, we can feed 25 people one meal a day – a total of 750 meals in one month all for $100.00!!
If you would like to donate to our Food Bank for the elderly, just click on the button below and you will be able to manually enter in the amount you’d like to give. You can be sure that this donation will go directly to the Food Bank – where our co-workers cook and deliver food to these widows and widowers daily.
Thank you and blessings!
Nairobi Orphans
In 2010, during our trip to Kenya, God brought us some wonderful new friends who work in a poor slum village just outside Nairobi. Every month they feed, clothe, house and educate 10 lovely orphan children in a very small, metal sided building totally on faith. The children in their care are very happy and have the chance for a better future because of their love.
World Hope Missions has been able to help them care for these children in many practical ways – donating needed items that they would not otherwise have. We love these children very much and thank God that He has allowed us to be involved in their lives.
If you would like to donate specifically for this orphan project, there are always small things that the children are in need of – new sheets/bedding, new sandals, towels, school supplies, etc. They are not large needs but the things that we regularly take for granted, these children are often in need of. Even basic supplies like toothpaste and toothbrushes. We will be sure that your donation goes directly to the slum orphanage.
Handicapped Program
Near Kambiri, Kenya, God brought us the opportunity to minister to a handicapped man name Wekesa – we saw him next to the road filling potholes in the mud. He had to crawl on his hands and knees and venture out on the dangerous road to fill holes in the hopes that car drivers would throw him a few shillings for his efforts. This whole situation broke our hearts and we know that God brought Wekesa across our paths so that we can make a difference in his life. We are buying him a new wheelchair since the one he has is very old and breaks often – requiring him to crawl many miles in a day to work on the road. We also believe that medicine will help Wekesa’s physical situation so we are taking him to doctors in nearby El Doret to get some medical treatment. We thank God for the opportunity to shine the love of Jesus into Wekesa’s life. We are praying about a home to care for and provide job training for others like Wekesa.
If you would like to help us take care of Wekesa, you may donate directly to his fund by using the PayPal link below. The cost of a new wheelchair is about $100.00, his medical treatment is ongoing and we are trusting God to provide the funds for any surgeries or other care that he might need. We also would like to provide Wekesa with some other type of job training so he doesn’t have to work in the mud filling holes. All funds donated will go directly to Wekesa’s needs. Thank you and blessings!
